I wake to a new year, reflecting on the year past. In 2018, I shared work with 92 different publication opportunities. 54 poems were published from these efforts. My first full-length collection Something Yet to Be Named was launched at Old Harbor Books in April along with friend Vivian Faith Prescott and her work The Dead Go to Seattle and Traveling with the Underground People.
In June, I served as a Writer in Residence at Alderworks Writers & Artists Retreat in Dyea, Alaska. This month away was a gift on so many levels and I am thankful to Jeff and Dorothy Brady for the opportunity. In fact, the application window for 2019 residencies is now open. Please, please apply. The experience is one you’ll never forget.
My chapbook What Caught Raven’s Eye was released under June’s Strawberry Moon. That you to Petroglyph Press for taking on this project of art and poetry.
I am currently working on my second full-length collection. Oh, happy days of writing!
So with that, I welcome the days of 2019! To friends and family – all the best in the year ahead! And I am thrilled to share that that my poem “Be Prepared” appears in The 2019 Literary Review Date Book which features an array of writings from 2018 issues of CC&D and Down in the Dirt magazines. Thank you, editors!
